GreenValve

The GreenValve is an energetically-independent automatic control valve. It uses the energy recovered to operate the valve and make high frequency monitoring and remote operations. It can be applied in many civil and industrial fields covering an important role in the automation, digitalization and sustainability of plants and networks.

At the end of 2012, professor Stefano Malavasi patented the GreenValve. Then, a prototype of the device was created to be tested in Fantoli laboratory of the Politecnico di Milano. Meanwhile CFD analysis have been made to extend experimental results both to optimize GreenValve components and study its functioning under a wide range of boundary conditions. The project SmartWater developed the possibility to use 3D printing for the production of some parts of the valve. The project was in collaboration with some two medium-sized businesses located in the territory of regione Lombardia. The patent is now owned by Politecnico di Milano.
